Welcome to the third edition of the Brussels Next Generation (BNG) ‘Fireside Chats’ Series, where BNG provides its network of young professionals with the opportunity to learn from the experience and insights of leaders across a range of industries in Brussels.

We’re delighted to welcome James Stevens, Managing Partner at Rud Pedersen Public Affairs Brussels, who is looking forward to sharing his experience of more than fifteen years in public affairs. We will be discussing how work in public affairs in Brussels has evolved over the past two decades and what changes we might see in this profession over the coming years. James will also reflect on what skill set and qualities are needed to thrive in this industry.

James Stevens is Managing Partner at Rud Pedersen Public Affairs Brussels and provides senior counsel to clients in the chemicals, pharmaceutical, energy and broader manufacturing sectors. James has over fifteen years of experience in supporting both corporations and industry bodies in their government relations, public affairs and communications activities in Brussels and Washington D.C. In 2014, James was named by his peers as European Public Affairs Practitioner of the Year. Prior to joining Rud Pedersen, James built the public affairs practice of FleishmanHillard in Brussels. Leading a team of over 30 consultants, James advised clients on both legislative and regulatory advocacy campaigns around issues that operate at the nexus between regulation, science and public opinion. He thrives on developing winning integrated campaigns that combine direct advocacy on technical files with broader public affairs tools such as paid, earned, shared and owned media and third-party mobilisation.
