With the vaccination effort ongoing, the method of recovery from the economic and social crisis of Covid continues to be a top priority for the European Parliament. Join us at the Chamber for a look at the S&D Group's priorities for the Post Covid-19 Recovery Process.

This edition of the Recovery Series will be looking at the S&D group’s plans for European renewal following the Covid-19 outbreak and what they mean for people and businesses across the continent.

We will be joined by Pedro Marques, Vice-Chair of the S&D Group and Member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs in the European Parliament. He will be making a short speech, after which members will be able to ask questions in a Q&A session.

S&D Vice-Chair, European Parliament
Pedro Marques is a Member of the European Parliament and S&D Group Vice-President for the European Green Deal and Communication. He is a full member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, the Committee on Regional Development, the Subcommittee on Fiscal Affairs, the Delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries and the Arab Maghreb Union, and the Delegation for relations with India. He is also a substitute member of the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean. Pedro Marques has a degree in Economics from Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão (ISEG) and a Master's degree in International Economics. He began his political party activity in 2001, when he became an advisor to the Minister of Labour and Solidarity. In 2002, he was elected member of the Montijo City Council. From 2005 to 2011, he was Secretary of State for Social Security. He was Minister of Planning and Infrastructures of the XXI Constitutional Government between 2015 and 2019, a position he left to head the Portuguese Socialist Party’s list to the European Elections.
