Join us for an online webinar on the 18th of November where we will host Ms Sarah Nelen, Deputy Head of Cabinet for Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans. Ms Nelen will speak on the topic of ‘The European Green Deal, two years after its adoption’. This event is exclusive, and open to patron members only.

The European Green Deal is a set of policy initiatives with the aim of making Europe climate neutral by 2050. Since its adoption in 2019, it has come to dominate EU policymaking across all sectors, as it is one of the main priorities on the EU agenda. The primary goal of the EU Green Deal is to reduce emissions by at least 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels. To achieve this goal, the Commission introduced a package of legislative proposals known as the ‘Fit for 55’ package, which aims to help all sectors of the economy align with the new climate ambitions.

Ms. Sarah Nelen has worked in the European institutions since 2001 in a variety of different roles. More recently, she has acquired specific experience on climate and sustainability policy, both as an assistant to Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans, and as a Head of Unit at DG Environment. Patron members will have the opportunity to listen to Ms Nelen speak about the Timmermans Cabinet and the Commission’s views on the European Green Deal, and progress that has been made with it since its adoption two years ago. After Ms Nelen has presented her views on the topic, there will be an opportunity for members to ask questions and engage in an interesting discussion, chaired by the Chamber’s President Tom Parker.

We look forward to welcoming our patron members to this exclusive event on Thursday the 18th of November!
