The special tax regime for foreign executives has been in place for almost 40 years. The Belgian government has announced some important changes to the existing special tax regime and the new rules came into effect on 1 January 2022.

The new scheme is called the “Special regime of taxation for impatriates and impatriate researchers”.
During this seminar, the following issues will be discussed:
* Nature of the amendments (law versus administrative circular)
* Eligible employers
* Eligible taxpayers: Citizenship, Salary ceiling, Geographical origin of the impatriate
* Benefits of the new system and benefits of the former system that has expired
* New category of impatriate researchers
* Period of eligibility
* Procedures in order to qualify for the new system
* Nature of the transition period

Eric LAURENT is a partner of the Tax & Accounting firm ERYV. In addition to traditional accounting and tax work for companies and self-employed, ERYV has particular expertise in tax and social security in the international mobility of workers.
