Last Thursday, 22nd of February, the British Chamber of Commerce | EU & Belgium and BMW Group held a stellar event on "EU-UK Dynamics 2025+: Jointly Achieving Net Zero," at The Merode.

Our keynote speakers, BMW Group's Vice-President for Government Affairs Dr Frank Niederländer, the UK Mission to the EU Deputy-Ambassador Caroline Read and Dino Toljan, a member of Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič's cabinet at the European Commission, led the way for an insightful and multifaceted discussion moderated by Jacki Davis.

Jill Rutter (UK in a Changing Europe, Fergus McReynolds (Institute of Export & International Trade) and Tom Hollick (BMW Group) outlined what the next stage of EU-UK relations might resemble in the eventuality of a Labour government. Julia Poliscanova (Transport & Environment), Amarjit Bains (Argon & Co) and Matt Hinde (National Grid) considered the approaches taken and the common challenges faced by the UK and EU with regard to net zero.

A clear consensus emerged among the wide variety of industry leaders, environment experts, consultants, diplomats and academics that increased EU-UK cooperation is the most viable option for achieving net zero aims across Europe.
