Perspectives from the European Environmental Bureau: Sustainability under von der Leyen II

Perspectives from the European Environmental Bureau: Sustainability under von der Leyen II

On the 9th of September, the British Chamber of Commerce EU & Belgium is organising a discussion on "Sustainability under von der Leyen II", led by Patrizia Heidegger, Deputy Secretary General of the European Environmental Bureau (EEB).

As the von der Leyen Commission enters its second mandate, early signals suggest a shift towards a more industry-oriented agenda, raising questions about the continued centrality of sustainability. With the launch of the Clean Industrial Deal and the Omnibus package, this discussion will provide an opportunity to examine the implications for EU environmental and climate governance.

Drawing on the EEB’s extensive civil society network, the session will explore the role of civil organisations in holding policymakers to account and advancing ambitious sustainability outcomes in the years ahead.

The event will be held under the Chatham House Rule to encourage open discussion.

Speakers:

Patrizia Heidegger

Deputy Secretary General of the European Environmental Bureau (EEB)
