Environmental Priorities for the 2024-2029 European Commission term

Our Patron Members are warmly welcome to a lunchtime discussion with Patrick Child, Deputy-Director General of the European Commission's DG Environment.

Climate and environmental policy will continue to be a key policy area for the European Commission under its new mandate, albeit with a narrative shift to competitiveness and global strategic autonomy.

The Chamber is pleased to invite its members to hear from Mr Child, a veteran British Commission official who currently oversees the Coordination of Resource-efficiency policies and instruments in DG Environment (ENV). Throughout a career in the European institutions spanning 30 years, Mr Child has also served as a Commission spokesperson, Head of Cabinet, Director of the External Action Service, and Deputy-Director General for Research and Innovation.

Over a lunchtime discussion at De Warande, Mr Child will give his view on the direction and future of environment policy under the European Commission, and welcome questions from our Patron Members.
